We did #SomeThongForGood This Earth Day

If you open any Australian’s wardrobe you’ll be sure to find a pair of thongs, the essential footwear of Aussies since, well, forever! From walking the beautiful beaches of the coast to taking out the bins on bin night, their versatility is unmatched. Whilst some of us get to enjoy the comfort of thongs, slipping them on when the sun is up, there are 1 in 8 adults and 1 in 6 children who do not have adequate access to essential clothing, whilst almost 80% of the clothing ends up in landfill.

In celebration of Earth Day, Saturday 22nd April we did #SomeThongForGood. We collected old thongs from the community in our large recycle bin outside Surf Dive ‘n Ski Manly Corso to save them from a life in landfill and give back to those who need it most. For every pair that was donated in our recycle bin, we’ll be donating a pair back to Thread Together, a charity who donate unsold clothing to those who need it most.

It was great to see everyone visit us to recycle their old thongs and tell us their stories, from those thongs that became a chew toy for your furry friends to the ones that got you through your hike of Mount Kosciuszko but were ready for replacement.
